Chris is a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 and current Department of the Army Civilian. He retired in 2010 from the Military Intelligence Excepted Career Program after serving more than 21 years as an Arabic linguist, Signals Intelligence NCO, and Human Intelligence Officer. Chris has an extensive background in controlled source operations, strategic debriefing, intelligence interrogation, operations and staff management, and as a contracting officer’s representative. He participated in interrogations during the 1991 Persian Gulf War, conducted and managed HUMINT operations in Balkans in 2000 and 2001, as well as in Iraq and several other locations during the Global War on Terror. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, he managed a team of interrogators dealing with the high value detainees in US custody while working closely with analysts from the Defense Intelligence Agency, the CIA, the FBI, and the Department of Energy. Since 2010, Chris has been an Army Civilian and has served in various staff and leadership positions at the DoD Human Intelligence Training Joint Center of Excellence (HT-JCoE) on Ft. Huachuca. In June 1985 after two years working for Intel Corp. as an Industrial Engineer, Mr. Walsh started his employment with the US Army at the Sacramento Army Depot of the US Army Depot Systems Command. In 1993, Mr. Walsh moved to Fort Huachuca, Arizona where he served first as the Business Process Reengineering and Quality Management Consultant for the Commander of the United States Army Signal Command.
In September, 1995, Mr. Walsh transitioned to the US Army Garrison Headquarters on Ft. Huachuca as a Strategic Planner before receiving promotion in March 2003 into the Office of the Commanding General, US Army Intelligence Center and Ft. Huachuca where he assumed leadership of the newly formed Office of Strategic Management. His first assignment in his new position was to develop a BRAC strategy for the installation that aligned with, and incorporated, all the missions of the diverse partner organizations operating at Ft. Huachuca. Mr. Walsh also served as the point person for the installation providing coordinated response to Dept. of Army and DoD scenarios during the BRAC deliberative process. As a result of this coordinated effort, Ft. Huachuca was listed in the top 25% of Army Installations in terms of Military Value which established a solid foundation for the post during the deliberative process that followed.
Mr. Walsh culminated his service to the US Army and Ft. Huachuca serving as the Executive Liaison Assistant to the Commanding General on public policy concerns for Ft. Huachuca at both the Federal level with the US Congress, as well as the State level for the Office of the Governor and the Arizona State Legislature. During his 20 years of service in this position spanning more than 10 different Installation Commanding Generals, the post saw seven pieces of major state legislation passed supporting mission capabilities in the electronic ranges as well as the special use restricted airspace in southeast Arizona. Mr. Walsh became a Fellow at the Flinn Brown Civic Leadership Academy in 2013 and retired from active civilian service with the US Army in Jan 2023.
